Seabrook Beach Family Photos – Finding the Fun (and Elephant Rock)
One of my favorite things about NH Seabrook Beach family photos is helping littles (and let’s be honest, sometimes bigs too) come out of their shells.
This early morning May session started off a little quiet and unsure. It was a bit chilly, the girls were still waking up, and no one was totally convinced about this stranger following them to the beach with a camera. Totally understandable.
But once we found common ground, everything shifted.
I have a tattoo of an elephant family on my leg, and when the girls noticed it, their eyes lit up. They got so excited to tell me about “Elephant Rock”—a name they made up, I think, but maybe it’s the official name? Either way, it was the perfect ice breaker.
From there, we walked and chatted, slowly making our way toward Elephant Rock. I took a few photos as we went, letting everyone get used to me and my camera without making a big deal of it. Just a little connection, a little curiosity, and space for them to feel comfortable.
By the time we reached the rock, the littlest little was ready. She had ideas. She had direction. She had opinions. Her direction was mostly “I’m going to stand here and you’re going to revolve around me,” which, honestly, is not a bad creative strategy.
That confidence, that joy—that’s what I’m here for. Watching a kid go from unsure to totally in their element is the best part of sessions like this. The photos we got? Full of personality. Full of real.
Sessions don’t have to start big to end well. Sometimes it’s a slow warmup and a made-up landmark that gets us where we need to be. This one reminded me—again—that a little patience and a tiny spark go a long way.
