Fort Foster Wedding – Casual, Coastal, and Completely Them

Sam and Patrick set out to have a casual, family-oriented, fun wedding at Fort Foster. And they absolutely nailed it.

Sam is one of the brilliant minds behind the beautifully curated Seagate Studios, so I had a hunch the decor would be something special—and she did not disappoint.

The whole day had this easy, breezy energy to it. The kind that makes everything feel natural and totally unforced. That vibe was only matched by the actual ocean breeze drifting through the trees while they said their vows.

Fort Foster is one of those places that quietly blows you away. Historic grounds, sweeping water views, and this sense of calm that settles over the space. Sam and Patrick said “I do” surrounded by people they love, with Portsmouth Harbor, Whaleback Light, Portsmouth Harbor Light,d and Fort Constitution all in view.

After the ceremony, we snapped some family photos, wandered the grounds for couple portraits, and took a quick trip down to the pier—because if you’re getting married at Fort Foster, you have to get a few frames with that view.

And then? We headed to their backyard.

What was once a basic plot of land had been completely transformed. A sailcloth tent, twinkle lights, incredible food, and the kind of warmth that makes a big event feel cozy. The wedding may have been slightly bigger than your typical “intimate,” but it felt small in the best way—like one of the beautiful throw blankets from Sam’s shop: soft, inviting, and just right.

The toasts were full of love. The laughter was constant. And the whole day felt like the perfect balance of meaningful and totally relaxed.

If you’re thinking of eloping or planning a small wedding, Fort Foster is worth a serious look. It’s private without being too remote, has stunning views, and gives you the flexibility to create a celebration that feels like you.

Sam and Patrick, thank you for including me in your incredible day. I loved every minute of it.

Thanks for reading. You’re good people.

Weddings don’t have to be huge to be full of heart. Fort Foster is the kind of place that invites connection and calm, and when you pair that with people like Sam and Patrick, it turns into something unforgettable.
