Jackii & Adam: Married! 04.23.12 | Hawthorne Hotel Wedding, Salem MA

Sometimes you just have to say yes.   A very pleased Kevin, of Kevin & Stephanie’s Moffatt Laddd House Wedding apparently said some nice things about me on Facebook.  That lead to his classmate Jackii checking out my website.   Which lead to this email:

I’ve spent a while on other photographer’s websites, people known or hired by friends of mine, and while their minimum starting price has me calculating how many purses and shoes I could buy by NOT hiring them, I’ve also been deterred by their cold or aloof personalities. So while price is definitely a factor in contacting you, I have to admit that your bright personality is more in line with our geeky,optimistic lifestyle than someone trying to sell photography with elitism and general snobbery… I won’t hire another photographer, and if you find that you happen to be available, just let me know! And if you find that you’re unavailable, that’s cool too, because I know you’ll be making memories with your family at the same time I’m making memories with mine. I keep telling our vendors that we’re unconventional: the wedding date was chosen because it’s part of the Lost numbers, I’d rather have a cocktail “intermission” than an hour, and I found my wedding dress for $114 in 2005 when I wasn’t even dating anyone. When Hawthorne asked which two flags we wanted displayed on their flag poles, we asked if we could get the Rebel Alliance and a Caprica flag from Battlestar Gallactica.

I couldn’t have been more flattered, and although we were starting to make plans to go to visit family in NM for OUR anniversary on the 26th I just had to share this email with Nichole, who said, you have to shoot this wedding.

And so I did.  I was provided with a most fantastic dossier – The Pearl, Photography Observation station – which led me on an adventure of characters and personalities even before I got to the wedding at the gorgeous Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA – and while those aren’t quite the requested flags, they’re still greatly symbolic of the union.

It was truly an amazing fusion of geeky chic.  Jackii and Adam are the yin to each other’s yangs (what?) and their love for each other and for life just oozes out of them in a fantastic  mix of compassion and giggles.

I hope you enjoy this pictorial dossier of their wedding as much as I enjoyed experiencing it! {Favorite details to note include the palm tree hors d’oeuvres, the polar bear cage, chomping on the groom, and Jackii’s fantastic pair(s!) of shoes!}
